| A Brief History of the LCAC
LCAC originally was a program run by the Lakewood
Jaycees, but because of the growing need for its services it became
its own entity. LCAC was incorporated as a 501 (C) (3) in 1988 in
order to solicit donations towards its goals.
Since our inception LCAC has helped provide over
5000 Lakewood families with holiday food bags at Thanksgiving and
Christmas. We have expanded our efforts and now provide cleaning
supplies for our spring cleaning bucket program. With the continued
help of our supporters we are now able to provide well needed
assistance to over 750 families and seniors a year.
The Lakewood Charitable Assistance Corporation
is a recognized not-for-profit, tax-exempt 501(C)(3) public charitable
organization; our IRS determination letter can be found
here.
Mission Statement:
LCAC is a non profit organization dedicated to improving the quality
of life of under-privileged Lakewood residents. This has traditionally
been accomplished by collecting food, raising funds, and providing
volunteer services in support of our Thanksgiving and Christmas food
basket events.
LCAC's mission is achieved through the Board
of Directors
Our Board Members volunteer their time in
service to the community, working throughout the year to support the
key Thanksgiving and Christmas food distribution events. LCAC has no
paid staff and Board member activity is entirely volunteer.
